This was one of the first times IDL experimented with virgin oak casks, which make up a proportion of this special edition celebrating 100 years of radio. Marconi, inventor of long range radio, was married into the Jameson family. This was more or less the forerunner of Jameson Gold. The virgin oak gives it an extra spicy edge.

John Lawrence Sullivan was an Irish-American heavyweight – the last bare-knuckle world champion and the first gloved boxing champion, the man who wielded 'the hands that shook the world'. John was the son of Michael Sullivan from Abbeydorney. He was a huge celebrity in his day, becoming world champion in 1888 when he defeated Charley Mitchell in France.
