Tullamore Dew Black Irish Whiskey

Glass - 35.5ml€8.00

Like the Tullamore Dew original with pot still, malt and grain components, but the pot still has been finished for around a year in sherry casks. This has given the whiskey greater body and some extra stewed fruits.

Tullamore Dew Cider Cask Finish

Glass - 35.5ml€7.50

A special release for Travel Retail and the Tullamore Visitor Centre in Co Offaly. Fresh apple juice was fermented for three to four months in oak casks before being replaced with Tullamore Dew Original whiskey. This spent a further three months in the barrel before being bottled. It has given the whiskey a creamier mouthfeel with some nice sweet notes. There are maybe some extra tannins but no strong apple flavours.

Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey

Glass - 35.5ml€4.50

Light bodied, sweetish spices, buttery and rounded with light citrus fruitiness. One of the best Irish blended whiskeys.

Tullamore Dew Phoenix Irish Whiskey

Glass - 35.5ml€17.00

The higher strength tingles on the tongue leaving a spicy pot still flavour. Addition of a little water releases layers of caramel sweetness, delicate floral notes and oak tannins.

Tullamore Warehouse Release Irish Whiskey

Glass - 35.5ml€9.50

A special Tullamore produced for the distillery visitor centre in Offaly. It's a blend of triple-distilled pot still, malt and grain whiskey, where the pot still component has been finished for a year in sherry casks. A nice rich, fruity, spicy whiskey.

An old version of this whisky from the late 70s or early 80s. By all accounts this is fresh and lively tasting with some delicious maltiness.

Tyrconnell 10 Year-Old Port Cask

Glass - 35.5ml€9.95

Tyrconnell is the unpeated style of malt from the Cooley Distillery in Co Louth. This version was finished in a port cask, under the guidance of Dr Barry Walsh, former Master Blender at the Midleton Distillery. It's one of three different finishes in the range - the others being madeira and sherry. It's an interesting one to try alongside the Tullamore 10-year-old malt, which is a vatting of the three different finishes. The Tyrconnell brand was originally owned by the Watt family, who ran a distillery in Co Derry in the 19th Century. Tyrconnell was the name of a horse owned by Alexander Watt that won the Irish Classic National Produce Stakes at odds of 100-1. Before Prohibition, it was one of the biggest selling brands in the USA.

A private cask of Tyrconnell bottled at 17 'and a half' years old! Bottled at cask strength and not chill filtered, it is a beautiful example of Cooley's unpeated single malt well aged in a bourbon cask. Sweet malt with some sour fruits and a lovely biscuity finish. Great balance.
